Triceratops Mini Dinosaur Mini Keychain Toy Figurine

The name Triceratops means “three-horned head”.

The Triceratops had a man-sized skull with two large and one small horn and a huge ruff. It is thought that they could thus defend themselves very well against predators.

  • Binomial name: Triceratops
  • Conservation status: Extinct [ex]

Although the Triceratops looked threatening, it only fed on plants. As an herbivore, it was chased by the Tyrannosaurus Rex. The front part of its jaw was shaped like a parrot’s beak, which he used for the separation of plant food. The Triceratops had three horns made of keratin, the same protein that composes fingernails and hair. The horns above its eyes were almost a metre long. Since its head was the weight of a small car and approximately one third of his body, he also had a very heavy tail to keep its ten-metre long body in balance. His legs were very strong, similar to those of present-day elephants.
